Titan Supremacy: Typhon

Description

Outside of the team of extraordinary villains known as the Titan Supremacy that the public is aware of, there are other members people are not aware exist or belong to the Titans. There's Cronus, the founder and secret de facto leader of the Supremacy who is believed to be dead. And there are a handful of independent contacts and associates that Cronus calls upon from time to time who he has assigned designations as Titan members.

And then there's Typhon.

Cronus discovered Typhon as a baby during a raid of a secret facility that was conducting experiments on extraordinaries. While he gave many of the victims he rescued shelter and even membership in the Supremacy, the baby was another subject altogether. Cronus had been considering setting up a secret school to train some of his younger converts, in direct opposition to the Xidorn Academy. But the baby he had was far too young for something like that, and in the end Cronus was unsuccessful in the pursuit of that endeavor. But throughout the years, both before and after his participation in the Super War that led to his disappearance and declaration of being dead, Cronus raised the boy as his own son.

'Boy' is something of a loose term, as the baby matured into a horrific humanoid monster. If not for his vast time manipulation powers, Cronus would have been unable to control and discipline his adopted son, and likely would have been killed by the creature's incredible deadly powers. But despite the monstrous appearance of the child, Cronus still loved him, and spent many years raising him up. And as Cronus began to understand just how powerful and deadly his son truly was, he finally settled on a name: Typhon, after the terrible "Father of Monsters" created by Gaia in revenge for the Olympians treatment of all her other children, the creature that caused the Olympians to flee in terror and even nearly overcame Zeus himself. Cronus had his own revenge in mind, and Typhon would be the perfect tool for it.

Typhon is now fully grown, but still has the mind of a child, as if he simply stopped growing up mentally at a certain point. But just because Typhon has the voice of and speaks like a young boy does not mean he is naive, ignorant, or stupid. Cronus has trained Typhon to be a brutal killer and destructive force, and the creature is far more observant and knowledgeable than his childish demeanor would lead one to believe, with a creepily comprehensive knowledge of anatomy being just one of these wrinkles.

In current times, Cronus conceals Typhon using his time powers, rendering his son not just invisible, but completely nonexistent to the rest of the world until he chooses to reveal him. Only those with cosmic and dimensional awareness can truly see past Cronus' concealment of Typhon, though Chronus can partially lower this to varying degrees for purposes of intimidation or combat.

Typhon's existence is unknown to the world at large, and in the Supremacy itself only Hyperion and Oceanus know of Cronus' adopted son, although Gaea is at least somewhat aware of Typhon's existence due to Cronus threatening her with him when he became aware of Gaea's manipulations of Hyperion. Though he did not completely reveal Typhon to her, what he did show was enough to force her to back off in fear of whatever it was that was accompanying Cronus. And whenever Cronus meets with the rest of the Supremacy, Mnemosyne is aware of a presence with a strange mixture of innocence and malignancy around Cronus, and the others in general feel uneasy whenever Cronus appears, which they largely attribute to Cronus himself.

Cronus uses Typhon for two purposes: first, as a kind of "bodyguard" for situations where his powers may be insufficient or nullified; thanks to his careful concealment of Typhon, those who are aware of Cronus are unprepared for Typhon's appearance, and Cronus has trained Typhon well enough to ensure that anyone who discovers them is killed, and all evidence destroyed. The other purpose is as his instrument of discipline in the Titan Supremacy, to keep in line some of the more disruptive and roguish members of the group, like Gaea. Outside of her he has never had to use Typhon to enforce his will upon the Titans, but he always has his son around him just in case, letting slip just enough of Typhon's existence in order to keep the more disruptive Titans off-balance and subservient. So far, it works, but Cronus wonders if Gaea is worth keeping around anymore, or that maybe she could finally fall into line if he left her with Typhon for a few moments of 'play time' followed by an ice cream run.

Cronus is also considering Typhon's uses for revenge against some of his old enemies, and accomplishing his schemes to supplant the institutions of the world. In the event that he reaches his end game, Cronus absolutely intends on unleashing Typhon, and he cannot wait to see how well his son would do against the greatest heroes and villains of the world. Based on what he is observed, he is confident Typhon would take them all by surprise and rip them all apart. Especially Captain Meteor and Algernon Xidorn. Those would be very satisfactory victories for Cronus, especially if his own son accomplished it.

But that is in the future. For right now, it's all getting the pieces into place, committing the old ultra-violence and mass murder, and then some quiet quality time over a Happy Meal. As much as he is driven by his goals, Cronus really does cherish the time he gets to spend with his son. And so does Typhon.

Is Cronus or Typhon supposed to be the TWVerse equivalent to Thanos or Darkseid?
