ARTIST COMMENTS:

This is Overthrow. Like the Allegiance, this is an older creation of mine that I decided to port over to the TWverse, partly because these characters were closely linked to the Allegiance, what with them being basically the Injustice League or Masters of Evil to the Allegiance's Justice League/Avengers. However, unlike the Allegiance, whose members more or less remained the same, aside from updated designs and changing the lineup to remove several members and add a new one, this group went through significantly greater changes; names were swapped, some characters dropped, new characters added, or some characters were ported over from other projects like Capes.

BACKSTORY

Naturally, every hero has his or her own enemies, a rogues gallery. And for every team of superheroes, it can be expected that that team will have its own opposite counterpart, a group of villains or enemies on par with it who rear large. Overthrow is this to the Allegiance.

Unlike the Allegiance, Overthrow is not a decades old legacy of supervillains united by a common cause, though there is an extensive history of supervillain teams who have risen up to oppose the Allegiance in the past. Pretty much every major incarnation of the Allegiance has been opposed by some sort of villainous group: Die Ubersoldaten, the Axis of Evil, the Renegades, Dammerung, etc. Currently, Overthrow is filling that niche.

Overthrow is the product of a brainstorm between Xerxes and Lady Oudine. Seeking revenge against the heroes who have opposed him, as well as leveling the playing field, he sought out and gathered together some of the worst and most powerful villains willing to join his cause. Mostly he sought those with some connection to the members of the Allegiance, giving the group a sense of purpose to help bind them. Once that purpose is met, Xerxes intends to discard them, unless there is further need. After all, they are all lesser beings, tools in his grand design, and like all tools they must either be put away or thrown away.

So far, that hasn't happened yet, but Xerxes is certain of his eventual success. In the meantime they are still a force to be feared and reckoned with. Thunder Woman discovered this, much to her chagrin, when she attempted to go up against the eight villains, only to be put down hard and only making it thanks to her close allies. Even then, the battle between Newport''s local team of superheroes and Overthrow weighed heavily in favor of the villains, but they were able to hold them off long enough for the Allegiance to arrive and turn the tables.

MEMBERS

Overthrow is, starting from the top row and going left to right:

1. Xerxes- The leader and founder of the group. Xerxes is the alter ego of a wealthy and powerful man, possessed of a nigh superhuman mind and body, with arrogance and a superiority-complex to match it. He views all of humanity as lesser beings, and his goals revolve around asserting his dominance and right to rule. Even superpowers aren't enough to disprove this, thanks to his advanced armor and weaponry.

2. Lady Oudine– She is an accomplished and powerful sorceress, and the only person Xerxes will acknowledge as approaching his level. They work together as an effective duo both in combat, mentally, and yes, in bed, and she is effectively his lieutenant. What Xerxes doesn't apparently know is that Lady Oudine views him as tool for her own goals, and will discard him once they are accomplished.

3. The Dreadknight- The Dreadknight is the personal muscle of Lady Oudine and Xerxes, a guardian construct enslaved by them during a raid of an ancient temple. It is very powerful, capable of taking on any two members of the Allegiance at once by itself, and the axe it wields is a match for any of the other magical weapons wielded by the heroes.

4. Malphas- Malphas is a demon from Hell, an archnemesis of Gabriel on earth in order to enact a nefarious plan. He is unique in that he came to Xerxes and Oudine rather than the other way around. Originally merely using a small time supervillain as a puppet, he has physically manifested in order to personally accomplish his goals. Like Oudine and Xerxes he has a superiority complex and intends to throw his so called "allies" under the bus once their usefullness has worn off.

5. Gravure Marque- Gravure Marque is a notorious French anarchist supervillain, well known as the villain responsible for completely annihilating the city of Nimes. He is quiet and not very ambitious beyond his nihilistic goal of total destruction, but under that withdrawn demeanor is a horrifically powerful and cruel villain. He derives his name from his signature move, branding a claw-and-skull symbol into the flesh of his victims with one hand.

6. Fleshtwister- A superpowered hitman and enforcer from Chicago, Fleshtwister's tastes and desires are fairly simple as far as villains go: money, respect, and the opportunity to vent his darker impulses by killing people. Xerxes gave him that and more, and even though they haven't been successful in beating the Allegiance, he wouldn't turn back for anything else. Even with his losing streak, Fleshtwister is notorious for his disturbing powers, including his ability to disable almost any superpower through physical contact, and general ability to mentally shape and animate flesh, both his own and others.

7. Biohazard- Once a promising Canadian bioresearcher, he was slain by a group of environmental terrorists and dumped into a vat of engineered enzymes, which, combined with some biohazardous substances, transformed him into a semi-solid being of toxins and radiation. Xerxes and company freed him from a containment facility, and he serves with Overthrow to gain revenge on the world at large for his condition and imprisoning him.

8. White Wraith- White Wraith is an assassin from Japan, a rogue who works for whoever has the balls to approach her. Reportedly, her family was murdered by a high ranking yakuza gang and she gained revenge on them with the assistance of a cursed scythe. Taking inspiration from the Western depiction of the "grim reaper," she silently personifies herself as living death, and the cursed scythe gives her the power to make that possible. In Overthrow she is their resident infiltrator and stealth expert, targeting and eliminating opponents silently and quickly.
