TW Villains: Inferno Woman

In her career as a superhero, Thunder Woman has counted many opponents as members of her rogues gallery. Among these villains are a select few who she has noted to be "opposite numbers," villains who could be perceived as dark alternate counterparts to herself- Thunder Slayer, Fulgora, Death Angel, Terra Patrona. But among these, none are as literal an example of an evil version of Thunder Woman as the villainess known as Inferno Woman.

Inferno Woman hails from a parallel reality. Paula East was a criminal infamous for smuggling and black market dealing of rare items stolen from ruins and archeological digs. During one raid in Turkey, she discovered a massive underground chamber, and within it the chained body of the titan Prometheus. In exchange for freedom, he promised her secrets and power. Greedy, she accepted, and Prometheus endowed her with the power of the Titans, and the Divine Flame stolen from the Olympian Gods.

Inferno Woman terrorized Newport City, setting herself up as a dark criminal queen over the metropolis, despite the opposition of many heroes and law enforcement. Even the Greek Gods attempted to defeat her, but Paula was too crafty, and even mighty Zeus found himself baffled and humbled by this devious woman. In the end, Inferno Woman only found her match when forced to confront her mirror self.

The two universes, in a cosmic event, began to crossover and merge into each other. As a result Inferno Woman and Thunder Woman found themselves experiencing elements from each other's realities. But while Samantha intended to stop and reverse this dimensional merger, Inferno Woman was intent on extending her dominion across other realities. With help from Inferno Woman's enemies, Thunder Woman was able to defeat her opposite counterpart's minions, even as Inferno Woman herself defeated Samantha's own heroic allies. The confrontation boiled down to the two women fighting over the device intended to separate the universes, and in spite of her power, Inferno Woman was defeated by Thunder Woman, and turned over the authorities in Paula's universe. Though wanting to help change that universe, Samantha realized it was not her responsibility, but before returning to her own world, she helped encourage the heroes of the other reality, giving them hope that they could overcome impossible odds.

But that struggle may be for naught, as Inferno Woman herself is gathering together an association of other female supervillains, comparable to SHE, and is very much bent on paying back Thunder Woman for what she did...

Inferno Woman possesses vast superhuman strength and toughness equivalent to Thunder Woman, along with her opposite's immunities to conventional diseases, poisons, and harsh environments.

However, unlike Thunder Woman, Inferno Woman's powers derive from more cthonic elements. She can generate and manipulate fire, plasma, and heat in vast quantities, able to create blasts that could hurt Thunder Woman, while she herself managed to easily shrug off Samantha's lightning. Also, instead of power over the weather and air, Inferno Woman possesses power over the earth, allowing her to mentally shape and levitate vast quantities of earth matter, create earthquakes and shockwaves, and summon up geysers of lava and ash from the bowels of the earth.

Like Thunder Woman, she can use her powers to fly at supersonic speeds.
