The Coalition of Champions

The Coalition of Champions is a team of heroes in the Extraordinary Mythos that originally started out as a splinter group from the Allegiance. It was founded by Stormlord (then better known as "Storm Prince") and Aegis and sought to bring together and mentor the emergent generation of heroes following the Super War and Skarn Invasion. However, this left the trio of August Star, Meteorite, and Pendragon as the leaders of the Allegiance after Captain Meteor departed, which inadvertently contributed to the downfall of August Star. This would end up coming back to bite Stormlord in the ass when he and the Coalition confronted August Star and his new Allegiance over their significantly more violent and destructive methods. August Star and his followers completely thrashed the Coalition, Aegis barely managing to prevent August Star from outright killing them all. The event left Stormlord a physical and mental wreck, and the Coalition was formally disbanded.

The current Coalition was formed following the defeat of August Star and the Dark Allegiance by the second Grand Assembly. The return of Captain Meteor and the chance to work out the pent up anger he had did a lot to heal Stormlord and return him to some semblance of his former self, and once again he teamed up with a resurgence Aegis to reform the Coalition, this time with a brand new generation of heroes. Unfortunately, the Coalition is dogged by a variety of problems, including its nature as a spinoff of the Allegiance forever placing it second at best in the eyes of the public, and by the emergence of new teams like the Statesmen and Vanguard. On top of that, the Coalition is generally most active in and associated with the American Midwest, which gives them a bit of a reputation as the "Flyover Team," the one that doesn't matter and that the public and media generally overlook. Stormlord is trying to figure out how to bring the Coalition into relevance once more, but so far nothing has worked out.
